Tinker After Class

In 2024 we developed a series of events, meant to spark curiosity in fellow strategists and marketers.

The Secret Life of Micro-Communities

At the pilot event of Tinker After Class, we will explore modern tribes — micro-communities. These are the collectives we join because of shared interests, but stay in because of shared values — and their influence is often anything but “micro.”

We’ll dive into the different types of micro-communities and their unique dynamics to answer questions such as:

  • What are the forces that bring together people who would otherwise never meet?
  • What are the roles within micro-communities and how does hierarchy work in them?
  • How do micro-communities change lives on both a personal and global scale?
  • Why should brands understand micro-communities, and how should they approach them?

We’ll go even deeper into the topic with the help of our three panelists:

  • Dora Somova from Nakama, organizer of Aniventure Comic Con and countless other events for geeks, nerds, and fans of East Asian culture.
  • Damyan Naydenov (Jimmy) from Lindy Hop Bulgaria — the largest swing dance and culture community in the country.
  • Nikol Vatashka from Girls Under Quarantine, also known as “The Women’s Group,” which has transformed the lives of many young Bulgarian women (and stressed out their exes).

After the event, we’ll continue the conversation over a beer in the fantastic setting provided by our hosts at Hyperspace.

The event is perfect for everyone who is tired of hearing empty phrases like “Gen Z seeks authenticity” and wants to truly understand people beyond demographic profiles.
